Junior Presents STEMM Project at Medical Symposium

Seysha Mehta '17 had the honor of presenting her STEMM research to the Society of General Internal Medicine Mid-West regional meeting at the Cleveland Convetion Center in late August.

During the summer, Seysah performed research and analysis on the "Potential Impact of Wearable Device Data on Assessment of Patients with Heart Failure" under the direction of heart failure expert Dr. James Young, Executive Dean of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

Seysha's STEMM project highlighted the problem of determining the functional status of patients with heart failure using Microsoft Band activity trackers.

A very small number of submissions were chosen for the honor of presenting to SGIM, a society of academic internists involved in the education of medical students, and it is unusual for a high school student to present.

Congratulations, Seysha!
