LAX Team Advances to State Semifinals!

Hawken boys lacrosse defeated University School 13-9 in the OHSLA Region Championship game. The Hawks now play Chagrin Falls HS in a State Semifinal Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00pm at Medina HS.

This was the first victory boys lacrosse over US since 2006. The regular season game against US was one of two games canceled in the wake of the accident that took the lives of Hawken lacrosse players Alex Doody and team captain Josh Weil.

"To have the opportunity to play the game against Hawken's friends and rivals at University School was a gift; to play it in a Region Championship was serendipitous; to win it convincingly was a testament to the heart, unity, and skill of Hawken's players and coaches," says Athletic Director Jim Doyle.

On May 23, the Hawk's triumphed 19-9 in front of a record breaking crowd against Revere during their first playoff game of the postseason. On Wednesday, May 27, they defeated Westlake 9-8 in Region Semifinal playoff action.

A fan bus to the State Semifinal will be available for Upper School students on Wednesday, June 3, leaving Gates Mills at 5:30pm. Advanced sign-up is required. Interested students should send an email, no later than noon on Wednesday, to Mr. Doyle at jdoyl@hawken.edu
