Student Singer Performs in Europe, Japan
Sarah Parker has been busy singing and competing in Europe and Japan.
A Hawken junior, Sarah studies classical voice at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She studied and performed opera in Italy this summer as part of a month long program, the Sessione Senese per la Musica e L'Arte at the University of Siena. Sarah was the only high school student amongst classical voice students college age and older, and she enjoyed performing solo opera and classical music selections to Italian audiences.
Last weekend, Sarah competed at the Osaka International Music Competition, a large competition for talented music students from around the world. Sarah was the only American and one of 18 finalists selected to compete in the voice category. She sang "O Quante Volte" by Bellini at the Oct. 12 competition, tying for the highest prize awarded in her category.
