Grades PS-3
All Hawken students in grades PS-3 will participate in a Family Literacy Project.
Preschool and Pre-K
We recommend that you read to your children for 20 minutes each day. Talk about the books you read, notice the illustrations, sequences, and new words. Complete the Family Literacy Project.
Kindergarten
Kindergartners can read or have read to them, books on the following topics: Families, Friends, School, Sharing/Feelings and one picture book about ABCs, Colors, Numbers. Please fill in the 5 titles on the sheet given. Complete the Family Literacy Project.
Grade 1
Read, Read, Read. Complete the Family Literacy Project.
Grade 2
Read, Read, Read. Choose one book and complete the graphic organizer. Complete the Family Literacy Project.
Grade 3
Each student will choose 4 books to read over the summer, 2 fiction and 2 nonfiction titles. Write 3 summary sentences for each book on the sheets provided. Complete the Family Literacy Project.
