Policies
The Library is reserved for study, reading, browsing, and on-line searching by individuals and/or groups. Patrons are expected to treat one another with respect and courtesy and refrain from boisterous conversation. Library users may expect the staff to offer help whenever it is requested.
Library users will need a Hawken CLEVNET library card to check out materials or to order materials from other CLEVNET libraries. Please note that when visiting other CLEVNET libraries to check out materials, you will be expected to use your Greater Access card to borrow materials, not your Hawken library card.
Borrowers are responsible for all materials that are checked out of any CLEVNET library.
Students will receive a Cleveland Public Library (CPL) overdue notice from their advisors when materials are two weeks overdue; a second notice will be sent after four weeks. After that, materials will be considered lost and the borrower will be billed for all replacement costs. At the end of the school year, students will not receive their grades until all materials are either returned or paid in full. Seniors will not be permitted to go on Senior Project until all of their outstanding library materials are either returned or paid in full. It is always preferred that library materials are returned, rather than paid for.
The loan period for most books is three weeks. Magazines circulate for one week except for the latest issue, which does not circulate. Selected videos, CDs and some reference books may be checked out overnight; check out begins at 3:15 pm and materials must be returned by 8:10 am the next school day.

Gifts to the Library
The Gates Mills Library is pleased to accept gift checks payable to Hawken School and sent to Sue Berlin, Librarian, at the Gates Mills campus. A minimum of $25 is requested. This is a long-lasting and meaningful way to honor a student's birthday, graduation, or to memorialize someone.
Please include the reason for your gift and the library will place a bookplate in the front of the book with the names of the donor as well as the person being honored or memorialized.
Catalog
By using the catalog link in the blue box above left, one can search for items in the Hawken Upper School Library as well as in all CLEVNET member libraries. Students, faculty and staff must use their Hawken/CLEVNET cards to order materials to be delivered to Hawken. Only academic materials may be ordered. Materials may be returned to the Hawken Upper School Library or member libraries. Use your Greater Access Card, available at all local public libraries, to have materials delivered to you at other libraries.
Cuyahoga County Public Library is not a member of CLEVNET and does not send materials to be picked up at Hawken.

To access the Passwords Page, use the Hawken username and password. Contact the librarian to obtain it, and remember that all of Hawken's databases are only for the use of the Hawken community.
