8:00 am - 4:00 pm, weekdays during the academic year
Starting with preschool, students are encouraged to check out books during scheduled library times, during free times or before or after school. Students in grades PS - 1 may check out one book per visit, students in grades 2 - 3 may check out two books and students in grades 4 - 8 may use discretion in determining how many materials they can complete during a two week period. Students may come to the Library at any time between class visits to exchange books for new selections.
Gift Book Program
Gift books are a meaningful way to recognize special occasions in your child's life and offer significant support to the Library. These are most frequently given at the time of a birthday but also may be given in honor of a teacher or a meaningful event in the life of your child. Contact the library for more details.
Each year under the management of parent volunteers, two books sales are held, one at Border's during November and the Scholastic Book Sale in the Library during February. Proceeds of these sales go directly to the Visiting Author Fund. Through the Visiting Author program Hawken has hosted such notable writers and illustrators as Steven Kellogg, James Ransome, Karen Hesse, Gail Carson Levine, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Joseph Bruchac and Nikki Grimes.

GATES MILLS LIBRARY
7:30 am - 4:30 pm, weekdays during the academic year
The Library is reserved for study, reading, browsing, and on-line searching by individuals and/or groups. Library staff members are happy to offer help whenever requested. Library users will need a Hawken CLEVNET library card to check out materials or to order materials from other CLEVNET libraries. Please note that when visiting other CLEVNET libraries to check out materials, you will be expected to use your Greater Access card to borrow materials.
By using this catalog link, students can search for items in the Hawken Upper School Library as well as in all CLEVNET member libraries. Students, faculty and staff must use their Hawken/CLEVNET cards to order materials to be delivered to Hawken. Only academic materials may be ordered. Materials may be returned to the Hawken Upper School Library or member libraries. Use your Greater Access Card, available at all local public libraries, to have materials delivered to you at other libraries. (Cuyahoga County Public Library is not a member of CLEVNET and does not send materials to be picked up at Hawken.)
