Q.
When do we begin the admission process?
A.
The admission process for applicants begins the year prior to entry, keeping in mind Hawken's application deadlines.

When do we submit the application?
A.

. Applications received after the stated admission deadlines will be considered on a rolling admission basis as they become complete and will be subject to space availability.
Q.
How do we apply for financial aid?
A.
Parents must submit a PFS (Parent Financial Statement) to SSS (School and Student Services). The Request for Financial Assistance and IRS Form 4506-T should be submitted directly to Hawken. This may be completed online by going to
sss.nais.org
. You will also mail SSS a copy of your most recent federal income tax return. Financial aid awards will be made only if your family’s file is complete.
Q.
Will filing for financial assistance diminish the chances of my child being accepted?
A.
While the timeline of applying for admission and financial assistance is similar, they are separate processes. Financial assistance applications are kept strictly confidential and do not influence admission decisions. Financial information is viewed only by the Financial Assistance Committee, and awards are seen only by the Committee, the Admission Office Administrative Assistant, and the Business Office. All financial assistance decisions are considered to be confidential agreements between Hawken School and the recipient family and are treated accordingly.

When will we know if our child has been accepted?
A.
Admission to Hawken is competitive and is based upon the strength of a student's application as well as space availability. Please refer to Hawken’s

for further details.
Q.
When will we know if our family will receive financial aid?
A.
If your family’s financial assistance file is complete and if financial need is demonstrated, notification of a decision regarding financial assistance will accompany your child’s acceptance letter.
Q.
When must we formally enroll our child?
A.
Typically, families have two weeks from the time admission decisions are given to notify Hawken of their intent to enroll.
Q.
Is there bus transportation?
A.
Hawken transports approximately 25 percent of our students each year. Our transportation program meets all state requirements and inspections regarding the approval of bus drivers, standards for buses, and safe speeds. There are three choices of
transportation services
for its students.
Q.
When do we schedule a visit for our child?
A.
Students applying to Hawken spend a day in our community. These visits may be scheduled beginning in September. Grades PS-K applicants will meet with faculty at their screenings.
