RiverSweep 2007

Thirteen Middle and Upper School students spent the morning of Saturday, May 12, participating in RiverSweep, the Ohio Canal Corridor's 18th Annual, environmental awareness and clean-up initiative developed by Ohio Canal Corridor.
The event partners schools with private companies to clean areas along the Cuyahoga River Valley and its tributaries. RiverSweep is a "done in a day" event where volunteers gather at one of seven designated areas. The Hawken students were led by Peter Anagnostos, Director of Development and External Relations, and Peter Thomas, who is in his 13th year of teaching Middle School science.
The group was assigned to Mill Creek Falls in Garfield Heights, where they removed from the the creek and nearby roadway over 40 tires, two suitcases, a washing machine and numerous bottles of various size and proof.
