April 13 Marks 30th Anniversary of Barn Fire

Thirty years ago, Hawken and Ohio lost a magnificent landmark to fire. What was once Ohio’s largest dairy barn burned to the ground on a windy afternoon as students and teachers tried to keep flames from spreading nearby.
English teachers Robert Hawkes and Peter Scott shared their memories of this event and you can listen to their descriptions of that day by clicking their names.
Photos of the barn, both before the fire and during, can be found in Hawken’s online archives.
