Our Community
At Hawken, we choose our own paths as individuals, but we come together as a
community, a place where anyone can belong. Here, we celebrate our scientists, our
musicians, our athletes, and our debate team. Our atmosphere is one of support,
among students, faculty, and staff -- whether it be in the academic arena, the artist's
gallery, the sports field, or in special events like the Chapel Talk. Members of the
Hawken community are here for one another. While numerous schools can boast
academic excellence, Hawken is proud to be a caring and supportive community. We
know that you'll feel at home here at Hawken, in our community, as part of our family.
Hawken is located in northeast Ohio, an area rich in cultural, educational, and
recreational opportunities. We are near a major city that is both an industrial and
medical center and a leading corporate home office location. The greater Cleveland
community has long had the benefit of a concerned citizenry, actively involved in and
supportive of the area's fine cultural institutions. Among them are The Cleveland
Playhouse, the revitalized downtown Playhouse Square Foundation, the Great Lakes
Theater Festival, and several local dramatic arts groups, as well as the world class
Cleveland Orchestra and Museum of Art.
